No need to leave campus for the farm experience. The student-run UW Farm, tucked into a third of an acre on campus, is a working farm with ties to courses in everything from biology to anthropology to American Ethnic Studies. 

The new Center for Human Rights, based in the College of Arts and Sciences with Angelina Godoy as director, hopes to encourage broad collaboration on human rights issues. “It’s gratifying to see how readily colleagues across the campus have embraced the Center’s interdisciplinary vision,” says Godoy. 

The current financial crisis has renewed interest in the Great Depression, so a UW history professor has created a website about the period and the School of Drama has scheduled staged readings of two Depression-era plays.

The College has seen a dramatic increase in film-related courses and programs in the past decade, ranging from classes on film genres and directors to courses on digital cinema production. 

In the Classics course "Classic Mythology Through Film," students study cinematic versions of ancient myths.

Though the Native Voices program, students create film documentaries involving Indigenous research.

Graduate students in the Dance Program and DXARTS collaborated on works presented in a recent concert. 

In a course offered by the Department of Classics and School of Drama, students study Euripides' Helen--and then perform it.
